How the Workers Vote.

TO THE EBITOU.

,qj r< — On the eve of another election struggle, kindly let mis have a word with my fellow voters. J have perfect confidence that if yon are not decoyed by some cunning side "issin» you will stand firm to your Liberal principle, and vote straight lor the Party. Tho contest is the keenest since the great Liberal Party took oflicc, hence 1 the need of the Party issues being Lopt firmly und definitely in view. In Wanganui many side-issues of a deceptive nature av> boin^f imparted into this political contest, and the Opposition is showing the true wisdom of Serpents. With plausible words and oily tongue they tell 119 they do not intend to make any change hi the many Liberal and rightoons Labour law.3 passed by the present Govornm-cn! . Such statements are only the slimy word? of tho serpent. Don't ba decoyed; don'! bolievo thorn. Vote straight for tho Party. Many Liberals raise tho cry that a. fairly strong Opposition is a healthy element in the Hone?, but we say we are taking no risks of this kind. We vote for conscience and principle. The cry for Prohibition is being used for more than it is worth in Wanganui, and I hope tho workers will see through this subtle move of the Opposition. Immediately Mr Massey is announced to speak here all Prohibitions work is cancelled for the night, important meetings which had been definitely announced, by men who are supposed to toll tho truth, are let drop, and the risk is that many workers will fail to see tho danger ahead, and vote for the Opposition because of personal temperance views. Now before sacrificing your political vote to this side issue of cry for Prohibition. Just ask this question: "Who was it that placed a Licensing Act on, tho Statute Book which struck such a* heavy blow at tho great brewery monopoly, and which ask tho people, through the one-man-one-vote privilege to say it they desire Prohibition," was this tho work of the Opposition? No. Then, fellow workers, do not let us sell our birthright by allowing men to crawl in under cover of tho very measures that havo brought blessings innumerable to tho working classes of this fair land.— l am, •tc.
