WANGANUI HORTICULTURAL SHOW

The Horticultural Show, which opened yesterday, is, as previously stated, undoubtedly the best exhibition of the kind held in Wanganui. Thi3 fact was attested by the record entries and the great interest manifested by tne general public in the Show. There was a large attendance last evening, when a varied r-ro-ovammc was presented, including selections by the City Band. The table decorations for tho men created much interest, and was eventually won by Mr A. Cummins, while Mr Quigley was awarded second prize. Miss Irelle Jones won the lolhe weight guessing competition, and Miss L. Munfie won the cake weight guessing competition, guessing lllb 9oz, the correct weight being lllb 9£oz. 'The winners of the table decorations, which were decided by ballot, were as follows:— No. 12, Miss Novris, ]21 votes, 1 ; No. 5, Mrs Stevenson, 80 votes, 2 ; No. B,' Miss B. C.
