HOSPITAL SATURDAY AT DUNEDIN

DUNEtDIN, November 26. A street "collection was taken up on Saturday in aid of the Dunedin Hospital. From 8 a.m. until close on 10 at night ladies were posted ' at the principal corners of the streets, where the traffic converges. Some were very enterprising, and let but few escape, while many were conteut to wait for contributions. Collections were also taken up in the suburbs. The total realised, including half ,of the takings for the inspection of the Maheno, is .£694. ' The subscriptions for- the hospital extension reached ,£5117 17s 4d on Saturday, bo that ,£sBll is now, available. This, with the Government subsidy, is expected to be sufficient to build and equip a new medical ward, and enable electricity to be installed throughout the institution. "'' The Star's shilling' subscription already exceeds d 6600. Bing Harris and Co. to-day sent a donation of ,£250. DUNEDIN, November 26.The ladies at Port Chalmers collected ,£36 5s 4d for, the hospital extension fund by a street collection. DUNEDIN, November 27. The first Hospital Sunday in Otago realised over ,£7OO.
