EXHIBITION OF TECHNICAL WORK

11l connection with the exhibition of T-fchmcal School work to be held in Wanganui at Christmas, and which will bo open for a week before and during Carnival, the following circular has been sent to head tc:ich?r& and chairmen of School Committees throughout the- district: — Education Board, "Wanganui, Augirst l!2ud. Dear Sir or Madam.' It is proposed to hold, towards the end of the year, an exhibition of school work — writing, drawing, and work done in connection with classes under the Manual and | Technical Act. i The object of the exhibition is to, bring together tlio best work done in the district, and by this means to give to all an opportunity of seeing what is being done. The advantage from an educational point of view will bo incalculable and your hearty co-operation is invited. The exhibits will bo numbered, and the names of unsuccessful exhibitors, whether individual, class, or school, will not appear, and thus invidi-% ous comparisons will be avoided. A schedule, showing the various classes, etc., for competition, will be issued shortly. If possible prizes and certificates will be given to successful competitors. It is infceildod to hold the exhibition about the end of the school year, and in order ihftt as many children as possible may have, a chance to attend, it is suggested that the annual excursion of the school be hold during the time that the exhibits are on view. Representations will bo mode to the Railway Department with a view to securing- the greatest possible ' facilities. With regard to cliildren of schools situ tied at more, than one- day's journey from Wanganui, arrangements will bo made, if possible,* for billeting them overnight. A strong committee has been formed to arrange the whole matter and, given enthusiasm on the paaft-of the teachers and School Committees of the district, the exhibition is bound to be the success that the increment deserves. Any suggestions you may wish to make, and all communications in regard to the exhibition, should be addressed to the secretary, .
