NELSON, August 23.
Far , the Australian match' the weather was fine, And the ground perfect. There were about three thousand spectators. The local team, including Nelson, West Coast, Marlborough, and Buller Union, lost' the toss, and had to ploy against a strong wind in the first spell. It lulled in the second. After being forced down. Nelson was penalised, and Wickhanr kicked a goal. Australians 3 V , Nelson 0. Then Boon (Nelson) secured n try, which was unconverted. This equalised the scores. In the second spell, Comes (Nelson) obtanied a try, which was converted by O'Brien (Marlborough), and Smith (Nelson) secured a mark, which was converted. Nelson thus won' by '12 to 3. The visitors were entertained at
dinner to-night.
