LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP.

NAPIER, August 23. The New Zealand Ladies' Golf Championship Tournament was continued today. The morning was occupied with a stroke handicap match for a cup presented by Mrs G. P. Donnelly. The following are the scores: — Mrs Campbell (Christchurch}, handicap 5, net 98; Miss F. Bidwell (Wairarapa), 18, 99 ; Miss Hannay (Wairarapa), 10, 101; Miss Bennett (Napier), 16, 103; Mrs E. C. Pierce (Auckland), 8, 104; Mrs Bloomfield (Auckland), 8, 106; Miss L. Cotter (Auckland),. 15, 106; Miss -Jackson (Wanganui), 9, 107; Miss Buckland (Auckland), 9, 112; Miss Symea (Christchurch), 13, 115; Miss L. Fitzroy (Hastings); 13/ 121; Mrs K. Tareha (Napier), 6^ 122; Miss Newbould (Napier), 15, 126. ": In the afternoon the fourth round of the championship matches was played. Some really good play was witnessed. A capital game between Miss Rutledge and Mrs Saunders was "very ' even, the two ladies being all square at the 18th hole; but an extra hole was played, Miss Rutledge wini ning. Another close game was the one be> tween Miss Stevenson and -Miss Scott, the former winning by 1 up at the 18th hole. Miss' Lewis, playing her usual fine game, beat Miss Wilson by 5 up and 3. tp.play, and Mrs W. E. Bidwell 1 played- a wonder, fully good game against Miss James, whoso foim in the previous rounds had been very good. Mrs Bidwell won by 5 up with 4 to play. The general impression is that the final for the championship will be played between Miss Lewis (holder) and Mrs Bidwell. The following are the scores (fourth round): Miss Rutledge beat Mrs Saundera 1 up at ,19th hole, Miss Stevenson beat Miss Scott 1 up at 18th hole, Miss Lewis beat; Miss 'Wilson 5 up and 3 to play, Mrs W. E. Bidwell beat Miss James 5 up and 6 to play.
