AUCKLAND, August 21.

Father Hays this afternoon "addressed a great demonstration of .scholars of all public and private schools in Auckland and district. The educational bodies and Roman Catholic authorities granted a public holiday, and tho procession from Albert Park was witnessed by thousands of people. At the close of a most impressive address 5000 children, representative of every denomination, took with the Father a resolution to practice total abstinence to the age of " 25, and to become useful citizens and practical Christians. Five thousand souvenirs were presented to those presents
