TRAGEDY AT AUCKLAND.
Husband Shoots at Three
Persons.
Then Commits Suiolda.
(Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, August 15. A domestic tragedy occurred Jit Archhill last night, when John Davis^a man aged 35 years, followed his wife to the residence of Mrs Alice Porter, where a single young man named Richard Chapman is staying. It is alleged that the wife had boon conspicuously in the company of Chapman previously. The husband entered the, house, and finding his wife and Chapman together, drew . a revolver and fired at his wife, but missed her. He then fired at Chapman, the bullet grazing his stomach. Then he turned the weapon on himself, and shooting himself in the forehead', died instantaneously. Constable McGill had observed the man prowling around suspiciously, and following him, heard shots in the house. The constable rushed in, and Davies turned the revolver on him, but did not fire. Immediately afterwards he blew out his own brains. An inquest will be held this afternoon.
