WAIMARINO COUNTY COUNCIL,

The usual monthly meeting of the above was held on Wednesday last. Present — Cm Brass (chairman), Ketr, Dauphin, Ford, Smith, Merson, and Harris. MINUTES. — The minutes of the last ordinary -meeting, and of the special meetings held on 21st and 29th July, were read and confirmed.' . THANKS.— Resolved to thank Mr A. E.; Remington, M.H.R., for" his trouble in various matters referred to him for his assistance. MAKOTUKU ROAD. — On the motion of Cr Ford, " seconded by Cr Merson, it was resolved that the Engineer be instructed to expend the balance of thirds which are available for work on the Makotuku Valley road as soon as the weather permits. RATE.— 2I rate of ljd in the £ was •truck on -the unimproved value. - SUBSIDY.— The Treasury reported having paid in to the Council's credit a subsidy of £170. VALLEY ROAD.— On the motion of Cr Harris, seconded by Cr Ford, it was resolved that the Council urge upon the Government, through the member for the district, „the_jiecessity, of granting a 'Substantial airiount'to the Council to put that part of the Valley road unmetalled, and lately handed over to the Council, in good order. EXPENDITURE OF THIRDS.— On the motion of Cr Smith, seconded by Cr Keir, it was resolved that the clerk be instructed to write to the Commissioner of Crown Lands, stating that a resolution passed on the 9th August by the Waimarino County Council, allowed Mr McHardie to amend his application re expenditure of thirds, and that the following be substituted, viz., to erect a footbridge over the Mangituku stream between section 5 and Ohakune; also for re-metalling on road between section 5 and Ohakune, on the Pipiriki-Wai-oura road. . , '. RATING.— On the motion of Cr Ford, seconded by Cr Dauphin, it was resolved that the sections mentioned in annexed list be rated according to the proportions stated re ©hura special loan, and all other sections mentioned. in the settlers' petition for the proposed loan hereto attached. b< rated in full: — Sections 15 and 18, Block 11., Makotuku, Is 3d each ; sections 12 and B—l, Block 11., Makotuku, 2* 3d each: section 20. Block 11., 3s 4d; section 10, Block X111.,- Manganui, 9s lOd; section 7, Block XIII., Manganui, Is 3d; section 23, Block XlV., '3s 4d; section 7, Block XIV., juanganui, Is 2d. The remaining sections full rate, viz., sections 14, 6, 13, 2, 3, Block 11., Makotuku; sections 29, 28. 26, 25, 27, Block XIV.. Manganui, and sections 9 and 8, Block XIII., Manganui, as per petition. ACCOUNTS. — Accounts amounting to £43 4s Id were passed for payment.
