THE CAULFIELD STEEPLECHASE.

Received August 12. 8.20 p.m. » MELBOURNE, August 12. Rain fell in the morning, but ceased at noon. The Steeplechase resulted:— Bellis 1, Find Out 2, Isis 3.' Thirteen started. Bell is was a warm favourite at 9 to 4 against. Shortly after the start Freedom took charge and led upon entering the third round, his closest attendants having been Bosun, Find Out, Lamond, The Toiler, and Bellis. When on the railway side the last turn round Bellis quickly went to the front, and won hard held by two lengths. Time, Bmin 3^sec. Freedom, who fell at the last hurdle, and Equity, who came down early, were badly injured, and had to be destroyed. '
