Auckland Supreme Court.

AUCKLAND, February 6. At the- Supreme Court Judge Edwards, interring to tho case of Dr Collins, i^aid it was a c|iii\?tion «iS to whether he exercised reasonable care and skill. If it was clear ho did tho jury should fiud a no bill. He had examined the medical evidence very closely, and the utmost anyone had said was that Dr Collins action might have accelerated death. Not one would say positively what was done must have caused or accelerated death. If they thought this | then they must throw out the bill, because it would bo wrong for a. man to be put upon his trial for an offence not supportoJ by any. reasonable evidence. If the jury we-ro satisfied that Collins acts did accelerate death they would find a true bill.

Walter James Donnelly, charged with forging a cheque at Whangarei, was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment, and James Clarke, for theft and false pretences, to three- years.
