AUCKLAND, May 10. Magistrate Kettle gave judgment this morning on an application concerning the estate of Thos. F. Moore, who is serving a Beven-years' sentence. The public trustee had sued the estate -of Mary Ann Mills for JBIOO, due to Moore's estate. The Magistrate held that the. 1.0. U. was given by Mra Mills to Moore to facilitate the cashing of a cheque for J3200 given to his solicitors for the conduct of his defence in the Supreme Court^ but the 1.0. U. was «ot used for that purpose, and nonsuited the plaintiff, with costs. AUCKLAND, May 10. At the Supreme Court Francis Livingstone, who • admitted his real name was Johnston, and that, he had served in South Africa with Marshall's Horse, was sentenced to two years' for forgery; James B. Burke, also charged with forgery, was sentenced to two and a- half years'. WELLINGTON, May 10. Mr Justice Cooper gave iv decision this morning in a casa involving the right of the corporation to charge owners of property half the cost of asphalting footpaths already formed. His Honor held that a footway having been once adequately constructed the corporation could not afterwards, by altering ,the character of the footway and making the paving" more extensive, proceed' against tli© owners abutting the property for_part : cost''of re-con-struction. Leave to appeal; was given.
