A good deal . of interest was taken in this matfh, neither team having been baaten this season. Caldwell won the toes, and Victoria batted first on a good wicket. They started badly; Riddiford bowling Armstrong with Ijiß% second ball. W. Gordon's arrival, however, put a different complexion on the score, he and Marshall playing the bowling confidently, and 41 appeared on the board before Marshall was splendidly caught by Bell ' at point. Boyes was next, and soon reached double figures, but at 75 lost W. Gordon, who mishit a' loose one. from Burns. The outgoing batsman's 46 was the result of sound McKenzle (11) and Caldwell 11
