AMUSEMENTS MEETINGS. ETC
The Frada Marsden Conoerts Miss Freda Marsden brings with her excellent press notices from England, Auckland, and Christchurch. She be gan her professional career in London, playing at St. James' Hall, the People'; Palace, etc., etc., and is highly spoken ot as a. most promising young violinist. Her notices in Auckland and Christchurch also speak most highly of her. and as a teacher she has proved her talent by her pupils. She has a junioi pupils' orchestra, which astonishes all who hear it. On Tuesday, we shall be able to judge for ourselves of her powers as a teacher, when we hear the two pupils she has brought with her to make their first appearance to a Wanganui audience. Little Florrie Scapens whose age is 6 years and 4 months, ie a child genius, who only commenced learning the violin a year ago, and during that time missed her lessons whilßt going to Melbourne and back. She learns with the greatest ease, and what are "difficulties to much older .children seem no difficulties to her. She is naturally a shy child, but loves to play at s concert. She made her appearance at the Newbury-Spada concerts in November, at Christchurch. The Misses Irif and Ruby Edgar are the grand-daugh-ters of Mr Thompson, of the wellknown firm of Milner and Thompson. Miss Iris Edgar (pianiste) is a pupil of Mrs Dr Croolte (formerly Miss Janet Smith), and has lately won the silvei medal of the Associated Board o! R.A.M. and R.C.M. Miss Ruby Edgar, aged 14, has been entirely taught bj Miss" Marsden, and is especially remark able for the wonderful power of lie; bowing, her tone and expression, anc is without doubt the finest native-bore violiniste that has toured the colonies; indeed, it is seldom that two sisters, so young, can claim so high a standard of proficiency.
