"Rip Van Winkle."

At the Opera House on

Friday Night.

A very successful rehearsal was held last night, and it was apparent that both principals and chorus had improved in their parts on previous performances, so that the revival staging on Friday evening should certainly eclipse previous efforts. The scenery (which was a strong feature of the initial productions, and for which Mr Neville Thornton was so deservedly complimented on all sides) is to be further improved upon, with the idea of adding to J;he effect and at the same time shortening theproduction by at least half-an-hour. The plot of "Rip" is so well-known that recapitulation is 'unnecessary, beyond this that the children'arc brought into prominence with the principals; indeed, ono of the prettiest scenes and situations is where "Rip" gambols with the little ones and takes part with them in that beautiful .trio "These little heads now golden, Silvered one day may be, Trembling and frail and olden, That day I may not see."

So that the children may have every opportunity of participating in Friday evening's performance, they will be admitted to all parts of the Opera House at- half price. Arrangements are being made for special 'busses from Aramoho and Castlecliff returning "after tho performance. Tho box plan is open at H. I. Jones and Son's, and tickets are obtainable at the prominent business places in town. '

The St. John Ambulance Society of "Certificated Students, will hold a meeting in the Museum Hall on December nth. Certificates will be presented hj His Worship the Mayor, and on address will be given by Dr Saunders. Several musical items will be contributed. All interested in ambulance work are invited to attend.
