The Carrard Sensation at ,- ' Auckland. \* (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, November 22. , A fortnight ago a man named William Garrard caused a sensation in the Polico Court by jumping^ upon Dr, Laishley, solicitor, and throwing him upon the floor. To-day, before the Stipendiary Magistrate, Garrard was charged .with threatening behaviour on the occasion in question. Garrard pleaded guilty under, great provocation, and asked if a solicitor had a right to call him a"d —■ old scoundrel" in -Court. The Magistrate asked the accused if tho Justices did not send him to gaol at once. . Garrard replied: "No. They said, "When you two- gentlemen have finished your; discussion, wo will get on with the. case."' The Magistrate expressed regret that he was unable to deal with the affair as contempt of Court at this stage, and fined the accused 40s and costs.
