GENERAL GATACRE'S MOVEMENTS.
ASSISTANCE BY A MILITARY BALLOON. CAPETOWN, January 20. General Gatacre has pushed his troops from Bush Manshook to Loperberg. Colonel Hector M'Donald, who, it was recently reported, would succeed Lord Methuen, has arrived at Capetown. A military balloon gave valuable assistance in connection with the shelling of the Boer trenches near Swartzltop. Many Boers galloped from Colenso upon the approach of the British forces.
