CAPTAIN REID TO BE OFFERED A GOVERNMENT BILLET.
WELLINGTON, January 19. Captaiu Reid's case was under the consideration of Ministers to-day. In reply to his request for a statement of the reasons leading to his dibmissal, he was informed that Major Cradock had reported adversely upon him, and .as commander of the contingent, his report was final, lhe Government, however intend to oiler Captain Reid ono of the positions in the Colonial Dofence Department at present vacant.
