THE PATRIOTIC MEETING TO-NIGHT.

It is expected that the meeting in the Drill Hail this evening, called by the Mayor to consider the desirability of raising sufficient fundß to fully equip 25 men for the third Transvaal Contingent, will bo one of the largest gatherings yet held in Wanganui. Amongst those invited to take part in the meeting- are tho Hon. J. Bryce, Mr A. D. Willis, M.H.R., Dean Kirk, the Revs G. Bond, R. M. Ryburn and Spencer, and Messrs G. Carson, W. H. Barnicoat, and S. T. Fitzherbcrt. Selections will be rendered by the Garrison Band, and patriotic songs will also be sung. The Caatlecliff Railway Company has generously arranged to run a tree train from tho Headß at 7 o'clock this evening, so as to enable the residents of Castlecliff to attend the meeting.
