THE GOVERNOR AT MASTERTON.

(Per United Press Association.) Mastebton, April 1. The Governor met with an enthusiastic reception at Masterton, and was banquetted in the evening. Responding to a toast His Excellency saia it was not going beyona the privileges a Governor possessea, or the infringing of any parliamentary representation, when the Governor took upon himself to visit the various parts of the colony, and to suggest improvements he deemed necessary in the interests of the districts. He had no fear of ths patriotism of the colonists, and was sure they would not forget what Great Britain had done for them. The United Kingdom spent an enormous sum for this colony's protection, and he had no doubt that the clouds in the East were the more difficult to disperse owing to the situation of the oolonies. His Excellency is touring the Wairarapa district.
