The Masterton Technical School has started cookery classes. Mr T. P. Gibson, Town Clerk of Poxton, cut his throat on Wednesday night. An inquest is to be held. Mr W. Vicary, of Apiti, has had some of his cattle dehorned, the cost not exceeding 6d per hoad. Tho miners of several large collieries in North Wales have ceased work, and a general strike is feared at an early date. Mr H. J. Honoyfield, an old settler, aged about 03, committed suioido at New Plymouth yesterday by hanging. President MuKinloy's immediate proposals require Spain to proclaim an armistice with Cuba until October.
A traction engine fell into a creek at Dalefield on Tuesday owing to n bridge collapsing. The drivers of the engine had a narrow escape. C. H. Tyson and Elizabeth R. Tyson, charged with tho murder of their illegitimate child at Hastings, have been further remanded until Thursday, April 7th.
