HON. J. CARROLL AT AUCKLAND .

(Por United Press Association.)

Auckland, Maroh 30.

The Hon. James Carroll, speaking at an entertainment given him by the Trotting Club, spoke strongly on the necessity of racing clubs insisting on making sport clean, which could only be done by electing as stewards men who would keep racing pure. This particularly applied to trotting club 3, whose management he rather severely criticised on account of matters which had come under his own personal observation. It was the duty of racing organisations in New Zealand to prevent the continuance of such a state of things. His remarks were received with applause.
