A TRAGEDY NARROWLY AVERTED.

Timaru, March 29.
The Rev C. Beecroft, Wesleyan, who leaves for Auckland shortly, nearly closed his ministerial term here by a tragedy. In order to relieve hoarseness he swallowed some liniment in a cough mixture bottle, thinking it was medicine. He became and his life was only saved with jiifficulty.
