THE PAHIATUA BUSH FIRES.

Padiatoa, March 28.

The officers of the Lands Department have scheduled the settlers' statements of loss by bush fires. 308 buildings have been destroyed, 10,553 sheep. 30 cattle, and other stock killed. Fencing to the value of £3374 and £7020 worth of grass were destroyed. The value of the houses, etc, is set down at £9,280; other losses, £7*92. Total, £30,314. The insurances amount to £5100. About 15,850 bushels of grass seed will be required to re-sow tho burned patches. • Less than £700 has been received in subscriptions.
