The Soudan.
A Big Battle Impending.

Nows from the Soudan states that the Dervishes, under Osman Digna are within ten miles of the Atbara River, where General Kitchener has 14,000 men under his command. An attack is impending. Major-General Gateacre's brigade performed a splendid march to the front. The Egyptian troops captured considerable stores of food from the enemy. Spies, who arrived in camp at the Atbara River, report that the Dervishes supplies are short. ! Cairo, March 14, The Mini-try nnd KhedWe, acting on the recommendation of the local board, haß declared Mecca in quarantine, owing Jfeo the risk of black plague. The Khedive, however, declines to prohibit the pilgrimage ground, such prohibition being op posed to the teaching of the Koran,
