WAITOTARA-MOMOHAKI ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the above was held on March 12th. Present — Messjs Clark, Kennedy, Fisher (chairman), and Simpson (clerk). Leave of absence was granted to Mr Forde. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence — Inwards : ValuerGeneral, Patea County Council, D.O.A. (Hawera), T. and G. Alexander, J. Annabel and Commissioner of Crown Lands. Outwards : John Wicks, Commissioner of Crown Lauds, Valuer-General, C. Forde, Postmistress. The bank books were laid on the table, showng a credit balance of £174 17s 7d to the general account, and £152 0s 2d to the Omabine special account. The engineer forwarded a certificate of completion of contracts 59 and GO. The chairman reported having paid Mr Thurling the amount due on contract 59 as authorised by the Board last meeting. -, It was resolved to write to the Government for advanco on subsidy for this year's rates, and that application be made to tho Valuer-General for a copy of the Govern, ment Valuation 801 l for the Board's district, and re expenditure of thirds on Block IV. Eoad, It was resolved that the engineer lay off the work required, prepare specifications, and call for tenders to be in by next meeting of the Board. Mr Forde was instructed to have the bridge near Pearson's raised, also to Have new decking put on. - Messrs T. and G. Alexander wrote complaining of the state of the road in the Waikare Valley. It was resolved to inform the Messrs Alexanders that the Boaid were doing their utmost to put the roads in the back valleys in repair, and as soon as a surfaceman was available he wouln be sent to do the most necessary repairs. Mr Crawshaw reported that Mr Lavery had nearly completed his contiact on Henson Road, and the Chairman was instructed to pay the amount due on receiving certificate from Mr Crawshaw that the work had been completed satisfactorily. The Chairman was authorised to advertise in the daily papers, also to place notices on bridges, that Nos. 8 and 9 bridges were unsafe for weights exceeding two tons. Accounts amounting to £87 10s were passed for payment. The Board then adjourned.
