The suggested match.Australasia v. The World, did not eventuate on Saturday afternoon, the reason being that sides were not evenly balanced. Scratch games wero played instead, every rink being occupied, and some interesting and closely fought-out heads resulted. During the afternoon tea and refreshments were amply dispensed and heartily appreciated, the lady presiding bsing Mrs F. M. Spindle. In the second drawing for the club's Senior Bowls, tho following games have been played : Soler 21 v. Ginham 12. Bonnie 19 v. May 13. Aimstrong 21 v. Hodreu 11. Purnell 21 v. Spurdlo 18. Purnell has to play Taylor in this round. In the second drawing for the Junior Bowls Pateison (18) defeated James 13. Both second drawings must be hnished by Friday afternoon. With legard to the invitation from the Waverley Club, the following letter has been courteously handed to me : Waverley, March 7, 1893. Mr W. Romm.i., Wanganui. Drui Sni,— With reference to my letter of 21th ult., inviting members of your club to play on our green on 17th inst., our committee have just met, and at the meeting the caietaker reported that, owing to tho continued drought, ourgreeu has gone all to pieces, and will not be fit for play on 17th inst. This came as a shock to our members, and I was diiected to write and to express, on behalf of members of our club, their regret at having tp ask you to postpone your visit. We very 'much regret that wo are to be deprived of a friendly game on our green, but a number of membeiß have signified their willingness to pay your club a visit, if convenient to you, on tho 17th inst. Three rinks would be very pleased to go to Wanganui and have a friendly game with you. If it could be arranged will you kindly let me know, and I will advise the skips to bo in readiness. Mr Rodwoll telegiaphed to-day that the Wanganui Club would bo very pleased to receivo a visit fiom Waveiley, and asked for information as to how they intended coming into town — by rail or load.
