The weather was fine for the opening day of the above meeting, the attendance and fields large, and the racing interesting. Results : Trial Hack: Nukurau 1, Tehnru 2, First Shot 3. First Result, Alionora, Roiny, Wiritea and Volley also started. Time, lmin 47 1 sth sec. Dividend, £8. Hack Hurdli-s: Opai 1, Toriki 2, Schnapp3 3. Robin Eood also started. Time, 3min 29 2 sth sen. Dividend, £2 10s. Grandstand Hack Handicap : Thrush 1, Merry Maiden 2, Wish 3. Slumber, Bush Rose, Dorry, Rimlock, and Te Orl also ran. Won by a length. Dividend, £17. Tune, 2mm 15 3-sth sec. Cur : BonaFidc 1, Primula 2, Rip Van Winkle 3. Lorelei, King's Bowman, Nero, and Whano also ran. King's Bowman and Whario led alternatively until the straight was reached, when the field were bunched. Primula was in the lead a furlong from homo, but Bona Fide then shot out and won by a length. King's Bowman was fourth and Lorelei last. Time, 2miu 12 2-sth sec. Dividend, £5 17s. H vck Klyino : Wiritea 1, Te Huru 2, Russley Bell 3. The Archer, Splintor, First.Shot, Nina, and Capsule also started. Won by a length. Time, lmin 18sec. Dividend, £32 us. A protest was eutered against the winner for inconsistent running in the first race, but the charge waß dismisssed. Boßouon Open Handicap: Titoki 1, Warnote 2, Maid Mannn 3. King's Bowman Keturn, and Stray Bird also started. Won by a head. Time, lmin 32Jsec. Dividend, £2 11s. Wilter Hack : Progress 1, Slumber 2, Rodara 3. Stockade, First Result, Bush Rose, -Tim Campbell, Turk aud Amethyst also started. Won easily by two length?. Time, 2min 17 3-sth sec. Dividend, £9 12s. Electmo Handicap: Nukurau 1, Gold Cup 2, Maid Marion 3, Titoki, Voltaire, Coin, and Ben Varrey also started. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 14Jsec. Dividend, £5. During the day the sum of £4605 was put through the machine, being about £400 more than the first day last year. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for the Patea R.C.
