THE DROUGHT IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA.
« Great Distress Amongst the Settlers An Appeal for Assistance(By lleotrio Telegraph— Copyright.) I (Per United Press Association.) Aotlaide, October 24. The South Australian iitgister has started a fund in aid of the distressed settlors in the northern districts, amongst whom there is great destitution, owing to the protracted drought. Some are entirely without flour, and are living on bread made of bran and pollard. Large numbers of cattle are dying, and many farmers, in order to keep the few remaining alive, are turning them into the wheat fields.
