A boxing mßtoh for the championahip of the world and a large stake has taken plaoe in taexico, between Bobert Fitzsimmons, of New Zealand, and Peter Maher, the Irish champion The title of champion of the world was recently hand«d over by James Oorbetfc on his retirement to Maher. The contfit was a short duration, Fitisimmons forced' matters from the start, and soon had his opponent in difficulties. After a few minutes' boxing M»her was unable to come up to time, and Fitzsimmons was deolared winner.
Frank Slavin, the Australian boxer, &fc present in London, has challenged Fitzsimmons for" £1000 aside.
