Mangaweka.

Wellington, March 6.
The Licencing Committee huve determined to reply to allegations in the petition that in tho matter of the transfer of the Wavorley Hotol license tliey acted judioially, impartially, and in what members believe the beat interests of the distriot.
In tbe case of the petition received by tho Government for the oatablishinonfc of a special lioansinc.district at UTangaweka and the counter petition alleging that there are not 700 poraons living within a radius of two miles from tho house proposed to tie licensed the Cabinet decided to appoint an oflicei' to ascertain what the mcieaso of population has been since last licensing poll and whether the population within tho radius in such as tho law requires for the establishment of a special licensing district.
