WANGANUI COUNTY COUNCIL.
Ordinary Meeting.
Present — Ors. Sommervile (chair), Boss, Cowan, Patorson, and Howie.
Minute* — The minutes of tbe last ordinary and committee meetiugs were road and confirmed.
Correspondence — A letter was read from the Poundkeepor, asking for payment towards a Pound boxrd, and on the motion of Cr. Boss, it was deoidod that the Poundkeeper be allowed hall: the cost of the material. Transfers — The following transfers were granted: — James Wiggins to Lizzie McKay and W. Goldsack to Uobert NoLlson.
Delegate — The Chairman was appointed to reprssent the Council at the New Z9aland Counties Association.
Tenant — Letter from Mr Coupe, asking to be allowed to rent the land next Mr McGee'a cottage. On the motion of Or Morgan it was decided to allow 40 feet frontage, to commence 14 feet from Mr, McQoo's house, and that the rent be £2 2s a year tor the ground, Mr Coupe to remain during the pleasure of the Council. It was also decided that Messrs Corby and McGree pay £2 2s a year each, ground rent, in future. Eastern Line — It was decided, on the motion of the Chairman, that Mr Edmund Morgan be appointed to value the Eastern Line in the Purua and Kaukatea Ko&d Districts, and that the Chairman arrange wilh Mr Morgan as to his remuneration. Boad to Nixon's Pit — Latter from Mr Nixon calling the attention of the Council to the btata of the road to his pit, and asking that it be put in order. Left with the Chairman to arrange with Mr Nixon. Furze on Eastoivn Boad — The Chairman reported that Mr Pnrnell had informed him that he hod cleared the furze off the road, and aske that all others be made to do the same. Decided that notice be given to all owners of properties abutting on Mataongonga road to clear the came of furze.
Bopaira — Resolved to repair the fence on either side of the Council office. Drain — It was decided to write to the propristor of the Bed Lion Hotel requesting him to put au apron on his drain.
IJpokongart) Ferry — Cr Ross reported that the approaches to the ferry had been satisfactorily completed. Honorarium — Moved by Or Bobs and carried unanimously, that the chairman be allowed an honorarium of £10 per annum. Wanganui Bridge — Or» Bommerrille, Boss, and Morgan were appointed a committee to wait upan the Borough Council to discuss repairs and management of the Wanganui Bridgf, Acoounts — Ape^unts to the amount of £120 Gs lOd were passed fot payment, and the Oounoil adjourned.
