For come time past a movement headed by the Mayor and a committee of ladies has been under way to give poor children a fete on the Queen's birthday, and th* committee so fat has been vary successful in canvassing for necessary funds. A controversy has taken place in the nows- ' paper* as to the wisdom of the proposal to bring the children before the public gaze.
