In an article in the Pall Gazette, George Giffen says that Stoddarf s team in a marked degree revived Australian oriokot, and that a more popular team never toured the colonies. Giffen considers that the best Australian Eleven is slightly stronger than Stoddarrs team. A huge number of people assembled at Plymouth to welcome Stoddart'a team on their arrival. Peel, in the course of an interview, declared that colonial cricket had vastly improved, and the members of the team were charmed with the visit and hospitality extended to them. He believed that the Australian team chosen to visit 'England next year would comprise the best all-round players ths
