A scheme for the construction of a canal from tho Tauranga harbour to To Puke, an important settlement sovontcon miles from horo, has beon again resuscitated, and Mr Purvis, solicitor, who goes home, intonds trying to float a company. Tho canal would go through a block of rich swamp land, ond tho idea is to got a grant of land to tho capitalists willing to carry out work which would provide inland communication by water, and render some thousands of acres of oxcollont swamp land fit for settlement. A potition is boing circulated hero for the abolition of the Thermal Springs Act,
