Lord of the Isles was scratched at 10 o'clock for the Maiden, and shortly afterwards Mr Douglas scratched Briar, prefering to do so than to allow him to walk over for half the stakes. Emir Bey and Loch Lomond were scratched for the Welter Handicap. The weather was showery. Five saddled for the Welter Handicap, Escopeta having the call in the betting at 6to 4 against. Blackheath got the worst of the start, but after they had gone a little distance was taken to the frcnt, where "he remained till entering the straight. Heretaunga challenged him for the lead, and he compounded half way up the straight. Minerva was let out, and the race was over, Minerva being first, Heretauuga second, and Blackheath third. Totalisator dividend, £3 7s.
