DEFEAT OF THE CHINESE FORCES AT BACNINH. (redtbr's telegrams.)

Received March 14, 7.55 p.m. Paris, March 13.— Official despatches

have been received from Tonquin, announc- , ing that the French troops have captured and occupied Bacninh. The city and outworkß were held by a strong force of Chinese regulars, besides 'ocal troops, but the French successfully turned the positions, and, after several hours fighting, during which the Chinese suffered heavily from the fire of the French artillery, a general advance was made, and the Chinese fled. The city and neighboring forts are now occupied by French troops. The despatches state that the French loss is 70 (sic) wounded.
