LONDON MARKETS.

London, March 8. — Consols have ad. vanced to lOlg. New Zealand securities are quoted as follows :— 5% 10-40 loan, 102£. 6% 1889 loan, 104. 4i% 1879-1904 loan, 101. 4% inscribed stock, lOOf. The total reserve in the Bank of England in notes and bullion has fallen t0£13,000,000, a decrease of £200,000, as compared with last week; The proportion of reserve to liabilities has declined to 39 per cent. Bank rate of discount, !»£ ; market vate, 3J. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 1,650,000 quarters, being 100,000 quarters less than last week. Adelaide wheat, ex store, 445. New Zealand, ditto, 36s to 425. Adelaide flour, ex store, 30s. Australian tallow has declined Gd per cwt. Beef is now quoted at 38s and mutton 4ls6d for average quality. At the wool sales yesterday 13,000 bales were offered. The market was steady, but the demand not active. To-day 12,800 were offered. The market is unchanged. Sales close on 15th March. The P. and O. s.s. Parramatta, from Melbourne, 15th January, arrived at Plymouth on the sth inst. The Bank of Australasia has declared a dividend, for last half-year, at the rate of 14' per cent per annum, and places £24,000 to the reserve; A large influx of gold from North America is now being experienced.
