TWA HOURS AT HAMF.

The return of the Kennedy Family to Wanganui, and the renewal of their Scotch entertainments for a season of four nights only, will be the leading speciality in the line of amusements this week. The Family have lately appeared in all the southern towns, and their success as been remarkable crowded houses following them everywhere. From the Age we learn that Mr Kennedy has lost none of his old capacity in chaining the attention,- and absorbins the interest of his audience. He possesses that rare sympathetic quality (says the Daily Telegraph) which communicateg his own moods to the audience, who leave the hall after attending one of his concerts, looking on him more in the light of a friend than a singer or storyteller." The programme for this evening, which will be found in our advertising columns' consists of " Auld Scot's sangs, humorous stories, and Gaelic airs." Of the performers themselves, we learn that Mr K. Kennedy possesses an excellent tenor voice of the Reeves quality, whose style he as evidently taken as a model of his own." "Miss Helen Kennedy, the soprano of the troupe has a quiet confidence in her style, that, added to a dash of piquancy, quickly brings her en rapport with her audience. She singa "Caller .Herring" "in particular with admirable phasing, and feeling. The Misses Maggie and 1 Marjory Kennedy also know what goes to make good ballad singing, though their sister's vocal capacity is the more prominent. These young ladies play the accompaniments on the piano, and also give the national dances, including the strathspey and reel . The present tour is a final farewell, and those who are desirous of hearing really good Scottish music, and of enjoying a hearty laugh at Mr Kennedy's genuine Scotch humor, cannot do better than patronise the " Family " in their entertainment this evening.
