ASHBURTON.
Nov 2. The Rev. Mr Layard, Church of England curate a'- Tinwald, yesterday afternoon accosted a gentleman aud exclaimed " I want to fight you." The accosted person replied, " We are only supposed to fight against the devil." Layard retorted by saying "lam
the devil," and immediately struck his companion a violent blow in the face. He was arrested atter committing other insane acts, such as putting his fist through a window, and to-night was sent to the Sunnyside Asylum.
