(per united press association.) AUCKLAND. Novl. Seventy-five applications were received for the post of inspector and collector for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Nov 2. The Stella left for Wellington with the Premier. An elderly man, still unidentified, was found in a fit in Victoria Quadrant. He died in a few minutes at the police station last night. Nov 3. The statement in a telegram from New Plymouth that a man named Edward Smith, who died in the hospital there, was brother-in-law to the late John Williamson, Superintendent of Auckland Province, is authoritatively denied. Mr Hudson Wil1 amson, the late Superintendent's son, was astonished on receiving a telegram of condolence from the Mayor of Hawera.
