LONDON MARKETS.

Messrs Miles Bros., and Co., report on the , Colonial, Produce Market on August 30th, as follows i—' Wool.—The third series of sales of colonial wpol commenced on the 30th inst., and will terminate about the 10th October. The arrivals were —

making in all 355,056 bales, of which 15,500 bales have be,en forwarded direct from ship to Yorkshire and the Continent. Since the sales opened, there as been a good attendance of Home, German, and Belgian buyers,* and competition has been brisk, but up to the present time the purchases on French account are much' smaller than usual. Snow white capes are selling well, but fleeces are scarcely so brisk. Business in onr Home districts, as well as on the Continent, appears to be improving, and there is .every prospect that prices will remain steady to the close. • Wheat and Flouk. —The storms which we are experiencing have seriously retarded harvest operation's, and the returns are not likely to show the abundance once promised; but nevertheless, the yield is expected to show an increase over former years. In consequence of the demand for France, where their crop is very deficient, cargoes arrived at ports of call have improved about 1 s per quarter; but the heavy shipments from Atlantic ports, which last week amounted to 250,000 quarters to the Continent of Europe, 150,000 quarters to the United Kingdom, with 50,000 quarters from California, have prevented any considerable advance. Adelaide wheat has been in steady request, principally for the Continent, at 50s to 51s and 52s per 4961b5, ex store, and for some of the later arrivals of New Zealand wheat, in better condition than previous shipments, prices ranging from 46s to 50s, ex store, have been obtained up to 52s for a few superfine qualities. We quote Australian flour at 30s to 36a per 2801bs, and New Zealand 29s to 335. Tallow and Hides—The tallow market continues in the same state, and although theie was a somewhat better demand at the last auctions, prices were unchanged with the exception of about 3d per cwt. improvement on middling mutton. We quote good to fine mutton at 37s to 38s 9d per cwt., and , fair te fine beef 35s to 365. Hides have been in good request, but the extreme prices paid on the Bth inßtant were not obtainable on the 23nd instant. New Zealand first class are now worth 4£d to 4f d, and light ox and cow 3£d to 4d per lb. Preserved meats. —Business in turned meats very dull. Importations of fresh meat last week only 173 tons. Bank rate 5 per cent.
