Wednesday, May 16. Word was brought into town about 7 o'clock this morning that the body of a dead Maori was lying on the road side, a short distance from the Kakaramea hotel. The police immediately went out to K'tkaramea and found the body at the place named (Patei son's Road), and had it conveyed to the hotel, where it now lies awaiting a coroner's inquest, which is to sit at 11 a.m. to-morrow Thursday. It is presumed that the deceased was intoxicated, and in going home to the pah fell off his horse. He was seen in Patea the evening previous. IJis age is about 30 years.
