Dunedin, Feb. 5. Seven new cases of scarlet fever have broken out near the Fever Hospital. On the Town Belt near the hospital there were three tents which had been occupied by scarlet fever patients, and the children in the neighbourhood were allowed to play in these tents, hence the spread of disease.

Wellington, Feb. 5. Arrived — Easby. She left Sydney on January 28. She brings 40 passengers, 1,300 tons coal, and 400 tons general cargo. The Hiber'nia, with the New Zealand cable, arrived at Sydney just as the Easby was leaving.
