It has been decided to make the public reception to Yogel general, instead of merely an emanation from the artizan class. A public holiday will be declared ; the fire brigade and friendly societies will be asked to assist. Subscription lists have been opened. Hearn, who rowed in the Dolly Varden crew and won the sculler's race, has been presented by the members of the Wellington Rowing Club with a silver cup and £50. Sailed — Manawatu for Wanganui at 2.30 p.m. Passengers— Messrs Kirby and Paierson. Stornibird for Wanganui at 3 p.m. Passengers — Messrs Lindsay, Scott, Oit, and,Hansen.

Port Chalmers, Feb. 7.Arrived — Ship Corona, from London, bringing 318 passengers. One adult died last week from typhus fever. Two cases of typhoid now raging. Dunedin, Feb. 5. Seven new cases of scarlet fever have broken out near the Fever Hospital. On the Town Belt near the hospital there were three tents which had been occupied by scarlet fever patients, and the children in the neighbourhood were allowed to play in these tents, hence the spread of disease.

Wellington, Feb. 5. Arrived — Easby. She left Sydney on January 28. She brings 40 passengers, 1,300 tons coal, and 400 tons general cargo. The Hiber'nia, with the New Zealand cable, arrived at Sydney just as the Easby was leaving.
