EXPLANATION.
TO THE EDITOR.
Sir — The report of the Chronicle this morning, is absolutely incorrect in stating that there was any " insisting " in connection with the items on the lawyer's bill. Whatever was done was in the spirit of concession, and acknowledged by all parties as friendly, and that an explanation was all that was wanting. The habitual incorrectness on that subject is getting too marked to be worthy of much contradiction. The reports of the former meetings on the same subject are repudiated by the Board, and the paper and its reporter are merely sinking to the level of maligners whose best protection is in their insignificance. Oke who knows. Wanganui, 4th Feb., 1876.
