Bird and Bennett report. —There was a full supply of both sheep and cattle at the Oarlton yards. Prices for fat stock -were fulJy maintained. We quote beef at 22s 6d per lOOlbs., and prime mutton 3d per lb. Horses—Our market continues very firm, with a good demand for all useful inscriptions of draught stock. Considerable
numbers are changing hands both privately and by auction, and enquiries for outlying districts where new land is being ploughed up are nuiuerions. A good shipment or two of useful farm horses would find a ready'sale. We have sold several entires this week at highly satisfactory prices, including Prince of Denmark, Baronet, Young Wellington, &c, and have enquiries for othhrs. Our quotations are—first-class draught, £38 to £30; useful do, £22 to £28, "buggy and light harness horses, £16 to £25, serviceable hacks, £10 to £15 ; light and inferior, nominal. Sept. G.
