In the Supreme Court, Auckland, Dorrington, charged with supplying the natives with ammunition, was tried on Monday last The trial lasted 11 hours. The jury deliberated 12 minutes. The verdict a not guilty," created much surprise. The natives who were tried for having arms in their possession, were found guilty, and sentenced to 12 months' imprisonment, and a £5 fine each.
There was a fire on Saturday behind the Auckland Herald office, which destroyed three houses. The Long* Drive crushed 3001bs of stone on Thursday, which yielded four ounces to the lb; gives a dividend of £2 8s per scrip.
