Sri?, —Finee the Government have withdrawn the paltry amount, necessary to support the above, bow is it thnt the inhabitants have not done something in the matter. Surely the pa'try amount of one shilling -per week from each one interested in its continuance cannot be the rui^on. I would surjrrst that some one immediately concerned go round and ascertain what each would he willing to subscribe; that a list be made out, a month in advance given, and a man engaged, to whom such list be given, from which, after the first payment, let him collect the amounts himself. Thus all future trouble would be avoided, and a great boon conferred on the public.— Yours, &c, .Citizen.

Row between Welsh Candidates. —On Wednesday Colonel Somerset, the junior Conservative candidate, attended a meeting* at Abervychan, and g-ave a Ion"- account of vm encounter between ' himself and Colonel Clifford, the Liberal candidate, at Aher<ravenny on Tuesday. He said that ha vino- discovered that Colonel Clifford did not support the Fre? Trade Bill in 1847, and that most of his tenants voted for protection, he stated his belief \hat Colnel Clifford used coercion. That Col. Clifford on that called him a liar, while the Hon. Clifford Butler son-in-law to Colonel Clifford, called him a d d liar; that it was several times repeated, he refusing" to retract that he had said that; the Hon. Clifford Butler put his fist in his (Colonel Somerset's) face ; that Mr. Williams, one of Colonel Clifford's supporters, struck him twice; and that Colonel Clifford and his friends hounded a lot of boys on to attack him. Colonel Somerset produced ihe poll book to support his assertion, 'i lip. liberals charge the foul language to Colonel Somerset.
