DANGERS OF FASCISM
MIGHT SHIRT LUNACY OUTSPOKEN DENUNCIATION. Press Association Electric Telegraph—CopyrigbJ NEW YORK, Thursday. Mr Harold L. Ickes, Secretary of the Interior, speaking at a dinner, made one of the most outspoken denunciations of the dangers of Fascism so far voiced by any Government leader. Hhe said: “The moronic exhibitionism of the Ku Klux Klan has died down in the United States, but a similar night-shirt lunacy has engulfed whole nations.abroad'. “Men seeking to undermine democratic institutions in the United States employ the hollow excuse that they* are stamping out Communism. It doetf not require much intelligence to see that such Communism may become the wooden horse within which ruthless Fascism may enter our gates. “Fascists who are pretending to save the country from Communism would superimpose an equally dreadful Fascism. They are . the real enemies of America.”
