ANIMALS GASSED
DEATHS IN MENAGERIE. NEW YORK, Wednesday. Seeping gas from a heater killed 64 monkeys, birds, ant-eaters, alligators, tiger-cats, deer and other animals in the menagerie of an animal-importing Avarehouse. 'r- ‘ A policeman who smelt the gas summoned rescuers, AVho revived four alligators, an emu, an hnt-eater, a gibbon, an ape, tAvo monkeys, and three red doves.
Thousands of tropical fish Avere not affected, several large tanks being equipped Avith compressed air tubes designed to keep the oxygen content of the Avater normal. The gas Avas thus unable to penetrate.
